What does this course mean to me?
By a glimpse on the course outline, "Cultural Studies and Ethnology of America" contains different cultural studies schools which are helpful tools to have multidimensional understanding about ethnics of America. As Tony Bennett indicated that cultural studies is dealing with relations of culture and power ( Barker, 2000:7), in this course we are going to know about different ethnics in America as different cultures and of course their power and hegemony in the united states. I think Power in America is very significant element especially when it goes to ethnics because ethnicity constitute through power relations between groups (Barker, 2000: 251). As we know America is not a homogeneous society, on contrary ethnical diversities are abundant in the United States. On the whole this course is of the most interesting subjects that I am really eager to know about specially that it is dealing with the concept of culture.
